PDC Modular Building placed at Brunswick Community Hospital 4/4/2005
Relocatable Modular Building Chosen Over Hospital Construction

Supply, NC – Site construction is nearly complete on the installation of a fully finished Cassette® modular building. The building was delivered to the hospital with a fully installed MR system to minimize installation and start-up time. The MR magnet and electronics were installed into the Cassette at the PDC manufacturing plant and certified “by the equipment vendor that the building would provide “fixed site” imaging performance in a relocatable diagnostic image module. The fully finished, institutional grade, modular building was completed in 10 weeks then shipped to Brunswick Community Hospital. The new MRI has been in the planning phase for two years and is a welcome addition for Brunswick patients and medical staff alike. "We can now offer MRIs to patients 7 days a week, instead of only three," explains Joyce James, the director of radiology for the Hospital.

The New MR Cassette building will replace a temporary mobile service. Although the Cassette building is relocatable it will be used as a permanent building installation at the hospital because it is a hospital grade building that meets all NC building codes. The Cassette is a spacious environment that will replace the mobile MRI van that was contributing to patient concerns with claustrophobia. The fact that the Cassette could be installed on the existing mobile pad with minor modifications resulted in significant cost saving to the hospital. Brunswick has tripled the number of MRI’s it performs in the past five years and is on track to perform more than 1,800 procedures this year. “We are pleased to be able to offer this level technology to the country,” said Paul Jenson, chief executive office of hospital.
